Seven months ago, give or take a day, the SmartMoney adventure began. We had two goals: to recount how Fin-Tech startups were changing the future of money and help the best ideas in Italy emerge. The first part we will continue to do every day, the second has reached an important moment: the finale of CheBanca! GrandPrix. The SmartMoney event will take place on October 1st in Rome, within Maker Faire Rome.
The 14 startup finalists of the competition were selected from among 69 candidates and were protagonists of a bootcamp in June. The four worthy winners will receive a total of 100,000 euros and a one-year experience at the PoliHub of the Politecnico di Milano.
But this is not all: the event, which is the first ever dedicated to FinTech in Italy, will also be an occasion to listen to some of the most influential international and Italian voices of the sector. From David Wolman, a writer at Wired USA and author of The End of Money, as well as columnist for SmartMoney; to David Orban, CEO of Dotsub and advisor and member of the faculty at Singularity University; and the director of the Observatories of the School of Management at the Politecnico di Milano, Andrea Rangone, crowdfunding expert Chiara Spinelli, and Martina Pennisi, collaborator with Corriere della Sera and coordinator ofSmartMoney. Hosting the event will be the director of StartupItalia! And columnist at La Repubblica Riccardo Luna , and the general manager of CheBanca!,Roberto Ferrari. Two exceptional startuppers will also be participating: Carlo Mancosu, co-founder of one of Italy’s million-earning startups, Sardex, andSebastiano Scròfina, one of the first in Italy to create an ATM for Bitcoin.
